I mentioned in the Holiday thread I'd post some pics of the Espada for ahem, EspIII. It then struck me we don't have a thread for automotive porn...
Hit the limit for a post, bear with...

I always dreamed, like many of my generation, of one day owning a “proper” sports car. Not a supercar of course, I have never had, and am never likely to have the funds to buy and run one of those, but I have had a few that might just qualify as sporty way back when, but then, real life eventually gets in the way doesn’t it? Now that I’m on the cusp of having an opportunity to realise that fantasy, I find, a little bit to my dismay, that I’m no longer all that bothered. Either I, or the world has moved on without me noticing I guess. Having said that, I’d happily throw something outrageous around a track if given the chance, but I strongly doubt that I’d want to own it afterwards. I actually quite like the types of cars we already have and their replacements will be vehicles that provide similar benefits I’d think. I love to look at the wild and wonderful stuff but I’m happy to observe and listen to them rather than aspire to own them.

The problem with cars like a 1973 Lamborghini or similar is that their maintenance demands and cost are huge unless you are well trained. Harry Metcalfe has fettled his cars on a road trip but I would have no idea.
I would love to own an Espada but the issues Metcalfe has had with his (despite using Iain Tyrell near Chester) puts me off.

Like you, Humph, I've had a few fast-ish for the time cars.
The supercars are very much for those who've seen far fewer seasons than either of us though I still love to look at them and appreciate the engineering that has gone into them.
The Sesto Elemento really is something, 1 of only 20 ever built. A full lightweight car named after carbon on the periodic table.
The Urus is an everyday car if your pockets are deep enough.
I still like to dream.

It's turned through 90 degrees in the last 9 years, must be due a service 🤪
Edit: You know your car has a drink problem when you see this...how long before we see this feature on an EV ?

A Bentayga (sp?) pulled up at the pumps next to me tonight, we both started filling at more or less the same time. I had filled my car from nearly empty, been in to pay, came back to the car, faffed about with some hand sanitiser etc and he was still filling the Bentley as I drove off.
Got to be in chuffing Brighton for an 09.30 in the morning. Oh joy, I want to go back to France… 🙄

Money no object? Panamera estate probs, while we still can. Taycan when we can’t.

Harry Metcalfe's Espada has broken the distributor again - back to the garage. At least I think it was the Espada. Anyway he spends a fortune on maintaining cars let alone just the outlay. But he's done good so to speak.
I do wonder if my brother used his Bentayga when he had it to travel to near Girona a year or so back because they won't fly and didn't want to use the trains as usual... How much fuel did that use and impact the planet.
I did not like the original Panamera but quite like the look of the current one. I'd be happy with an A6 estate (petrol) but not a super loud RS6 regardless of money.

Filled up my Focus yesterday, 93.54€ for a tank of 98RON. It must cost the average house mortgage payment to fill a Bentayga.
Have they removed the £99 limit at UK filling stations or is it still a multi-trip to the cashier to fill the tank ? I recall it taking two trips into the shop last October when I filled my Volvo up, £120+ for a tank of diesel.
I caught the BBC News yesterday and the trip to the edge of space. £250,000 per ticket and no mention of climate change in that report. Must be using that new carbon neutral rocket fuel and solar powered planes to carry it up there.
Amazing achievement with the timing of launching a 500bhp V12 in 1973.

Virgin Galactic banned from sending up their 'space rocket' from the UK. It does not 'meet the UK aspirations for carbon neutral travel' or something similar - so said the head of UK Space Agency. To be fair I agree. It is a waste of resources to send people into space unless there is a defined and sensible purpose to improve the lot of humans on the ground.

Octopus paid me to charge my Leaf last weekend. Which was nice. Anyway, sorry, off topic - I haven't got any supercar pics to post because they don't really float my boat. I have been to a couple of local little car club shows over the summer and seen some lovely old "everyday" stuff, which is my automotive pawn, really. I'm thinking of asking my Mum's partner if I can borrow his MGB next summer to take around these shows. That's about as flashy and expensive a hobby car as I'd want really. Here are a couple of lovelies I papped this summer: I really liked the VW Porsche too. 912, wasn't it? Not many around these days. The Triumph Toledo in the background was totally original, unrestored, and running nicely.

That Porsche is the 914 I think. It is a VW underneath. Porsche 914 The 912 was a 911 but with a four cylinder boxer engine from the last of the 356s.
