The Clubman has had some Dunlops on since new. Not particularly great tyres in my view - harsh ride, noisy on poor surfaces and the fronts wore to just above the tread wear bars in 25,000 miles.
I have replaced the fronts with Michelin Primacy 4 and swapped them round so that the original rear tyres, still with lots of tread remaining, are now on the front and the new ones are on the back. Espadrille very impressed; apparently the car is so much better. I haven't driven it but just from calling her in the car, you can tell the car is much quieter - although may be down to the remaining tyres having more tread.
Anyway the front left tyre was always losing a little air over a period, according to the on-board monitor. So now it has been swapped over to the rear with a new tyre it is also warning again of lowish pressure. I checked all tyres today with a manual gauge (the sort that extends further out the greater the pressure in the tyre) and all pressures were exactly where they should be. Advised her to do a reset, which I don't think was done when the tyres were replaced and we shall see.
We used Tyres On the Drive (a division of Halfords) who were a decent price and efficient. However I was rather disappointed that they asked for £25 to 'rotate the wheels'. Given that two wheels were coming off anyway and it is best practice to put new tyres on the rear (something Costco told her they would do automatically but didn't have any of her size in stock) I was a little disappointed.
Car is five years old so I reckon I have about 18 months left in the front tyres before they need replacing due to age.
