Maybe the floods have had an impact on communication too? I hope he's okay. A moderator type person could send him an email or any of us could send a message via this platform.

He was last online 13 hours ago. If there's a full blown hooly going on then he'll have his head down and will get in touch when it has blown over. I'm sure he knows we are thinking about him and his family and will hear from him when the wellies have dried out. He's not daft, well no more daft than the rest of us about that age. Some of the older ones keep throwing themselves down hills on pushbikes but, well, you know...can't teach and old dog new tricks about self preservation.

Marooned!
(Don’t suppose Al heard that much in Auld Reekie at the weekend!)
Need to forget motoring and join a boating forum. Or get an excavator to help with the slips and landslides)…

Ah right. Thinking about it, we've not had any proper hoolies this last autumn/winter here. My next door neighbour's fencing company must be disappoint. Wonder if winter will have a sting in its tail.

We’re just coming up to the anniversary (for any young readers, that’s the ‘one-year anniversary’) of the storm that thwarted my crane-spotting and crab-munching trip to Norfolk. Haven’t been able to reschedule it since and it’ll soon be too late for this winter.

No damage to house or chattels… yet. The wind has picked up again tonight, from the other direction, as the tail leaves. Still, it’s less eventful than the raging thunder and lightning that marked the passing of the eye last night…
House is made of concrete and steel and triple glazing, which makes a nice cocoon… didn’t hear the 2 enormous trees fall in the adjacent reserve!

No doubt they have to check under the sections that are still there in case there a unseen issues. Hence your detour mentioned in the other thread.
