Yes electing someone in thrall to a terrorist dictator who had already committed acts of murder against our own population on our own soil, a Prime Minister who elevated one of that dictator's agents to our unelected legislature, has turned out to be a brilliant wheeze on so many levels.
Reminders of the last days of the Major government. It is a pity that Starmer does not have the obvious policies of Blair.
The (self-inflicted) winds of Brexit and Covid did for Boris despite his huge majority. Whether he might have acheived something positive if it were not for Covid, we cannot say, but he was voted in for two reasons; Brexit and anti-Corbyn.
It is obvious now that we need a general election and if nothing else, Starmer is a safe pair of hands at doing very little. But sometimes steadying the ship is all that is needed until someone comes along with a better idea.
I'm kinda thinking no Brexit plus Corbyn would have been a better outcome. No Brexit plus hung Parliament with the LibDems insisting on a non-Corbyn PM, even better.
If you think Starmer is going to "do very little", I think you're in for a big surprise.
Corbyn was never going to be PM, but the Tory media made the most of him as a bogeyman.
Truss’s press conference just now was another car crash. She has absolutely nothing to offer. Keeps wittering about ‘delivering’, when she can’t even ‘deliver’ the bribes she promised to the party geriatrics who elected her. She makes Major in 1997 look like Abraham Lincoln.
Wouldn't that be political suicide ? We've just elected a new leader and want another go. Isn't the only way out for the PM to resign for whatever least damaging reason and replacement installed. The problem is there are no political heavyweights around to deal with the issues of the days, months and years to come.
Yes it would be political suicide for many. But perhaps we can live in hope that there are enough of them to put country before their own job, which is only going to last max 2 years anyway for a lot of them.
I doubt it'll happen, but I didn't say it was going to, I said it's what we need to happen.
I don't disagree with you though sadly we live in an era of Facebook politics.
No one has any conviction, from any party, a vision for the future. It's all sound bites and likes. If you say something people don't like quickly change your mind. Grab the cash and run.
