See a lot of tent boxes on the roof of a car, SUV or 4x4 these days. Not sure it's for me either.

Having the towbar on my car makes zero difference to the rear parking sensors or camera. Suppose it's only when something is attached it makes a difference and that's when the electrics would be hooked up even for a bike rack or towbar mounted box for the lighting board. Simply having it there doesn’t affect anything in normal driving. Attaching the ball and connecting the electrics made no discernible difference to the Verso (car bought new and Toyota-branded Witter bar fitted by dealer) or the E220 (car bought used and Brinks bar fitted by a specialist). The best and easiest to use of the three was the Westfalia fitted by the same Reading specialist to the CLS, but there was one oddity, which was a high-pitched ‘peep’ in time with the indicator ticker, also audible outside the car when locking or unlocking. This was only when the towbar electrics were active, and it was more odd than annoying. I wonder if Humph’s E would behave the same way. The iX, incidentally, is a very different matter. Start it up with the towbar deployed and there’s a quiz about the load attached and the prevailing speed restrictions, which then helps the car adjust the brake balance to suit. Until an Audi arrives behind you, of course, but it’s all good again now.
