On your mobile. Ideally to be a ring tone it needs to be ascending, repetitive distinctive, unique and no lyrics in the first 30 seconds before the voicemail kicks in.
Mine is thus.
Fits the bill perfectly I think.

Yes promising, has a fit for most of the the requirements, but fails the 30 seconds before lyrics issue. By 10. Easily Mixable to fix it of course. |

I see no point in a musical ring, any more than I did in musical door chimes when they were briefly popular. A phone rings for the same reason a baby cries: to get attention. It's not a sound you want to go on listening to longer than necessary, so it doesn't need to sound enjoyable, merely distinctive. Mine is a standard Apple one that sounds like a gorilla shaking a box of spanners. It gets my attention and I know it's mine. A long, building intro, on the other hand, is too fine a thing to waste on a phone. I have about 30 ringtones on my phone, personalised for each of these callers.
From "Sunday Bloody Sunday" for a priest friend, to "Local Hero - Going Home" for my dad.
