I find this quite annoying. www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-61284686It's right that he should resign, and he should have been sacked if he did not resign. [given proof/admission of guilt of course] But the fake, hypocritical and sanctimonious outrage of all the political twats around him, and the repugnant media, gets right up my nose. Truly politicians are the characterless dregs of humanity.

What's the difference in payouts between resignation and sacking after a term in office ?
Anyone caught watching porn on company time, it would be automatic dismissal and all benefits lost. Resignation would imply keeping any benefits accrued.

Well, whilst you are correct, on the occasions I have dealt with such things I was always very happy to allow someone to quit and go away quietly. Not unlike a plea deal it's worth it to avoid the fight. I once reduced a company by an entire department that way.
In this case it is neither the crime nor the handling that irritates me, it is the third party wailing.

I can't get overexcited about the background noise when the main act is taking the piss.

I dunno, I wouldn't watch porn at work but if I did and I got busted I think I might go through the "No I didn't / OK I did but it was a mistake / OK I'll go" cycle.

Time and place. If that's your thing you do it in the privacy of your own place. To do it on a stage such as the Houses of Parliament shows a total disregard for what he's there to represent.
If you've done wrong and know it I don't think many on here would try to deny it. You know you've done it, you know it's wrong, you stand up and take your punishment. I have no time for those who try to deny what they know they've done.

As a Chartered Surveyor I am obliged to take responsibility for my actions. As such, a couple of weeks ago I realised I had dropped a big one likely to cost my client up to £100,000. I advised him and my insurers immediately. There was no point in trying to hide it. I missed a clause in a lease and I was skewered.
We should expect similar standards from our elected officials but it seems to be universal worldwide, with a few very honourable exceptions, that this is not the case. I'm not sure any of the exceptions are in the UK.

To do it on a stage such as the Houses of Parliament shows a total disregard for what he's there to represent. Absolutely agree. >If you've done wrong and know it I don't think many on here would try to deny it. >I have no time for those who try to deny what they know they've done. I don't know so much. Obviously I entirely agree with the principle, but isn't the knee jerk "no I didn't"? I wouldn't do it in the first place, but there's other things that I would do yet deny. "Were you looking at that girl's bum? No dear" or "Did you eat the last cake? No dear". I mean clearly looking at porn at work is dumb, denying it is dumber. My objection is that he was stupid to do it and stupid to deny it, not the actually looking at porn itself. If you see what I mean. I think I am doing a rubbish job of explaining, but I know what I mean. And even then, my real annoyance is the sanctimonious hypocrisy of the various political and media commentators.

He was banged to rights as there were at least two witnesses, female Conservative MPs, who had seen him with the porn on his phone. This seems to have been during a division when Members are seated both before and after shuffling through the lobbies. He kept quiet, except for making some anodyne comments when the matter came up in a TV interview. One suspects the interviewer had at least clue as to the offender's ID.
In keeping quiet he put colleagues at risk of being wrongly suspected.
The government machine meanwhile, having apparently learned nothing from the Owen Patterson affair, tried to kick it into the long grass with a whipping exercise imposed on their Members. Only when a number of MPs refused to be cowed did they alter course.
