My 36 year old colleague, the only other valuer in our firm, had what we thought was a uncomfortable reaction to the booster. He had cancer years ago but was declared clear over ten years ago and is married with two young kids.
Yesterday he decided he had had enough and attempted to make an appointment for his GP. When he got no real response for a while, he was chased off to A&E by another member of my staff. The hospital took bloods etc.. Well the initial diagnosis is the subject of this thread.
First reaction is 'Oh Sh!t'. The second is to keep him and his family feeling secure and positive, which we have and thirdly we have to deal with the short term crisis of managing his work (thankfully we were coming to the end of the year) and then dealing with a possible long term absence in 2022.
There are several unhappy and upset people around the office today. It is all rather muted.
Buggah and all that. Feel for him and his family. No great desires in life other than to look after his kids and wife. Doesn't want a fancy car, his wife has been overseas once in her life on honeymoon and they just take two, week long hoidays in Butlins each year. He joined us almost three years ago and tells me it is the best job he has had. We have great relationship and I value his judgement, although at times he makes me look a bit like a member of the Labour Party! Took a history degree so knows his stuff and how to analyse socio-economic situations far better than I can.
Hope he gets back to the office soon, in good health.
