For sure we could manage with one EV and one ICE. But, until the cars and the infrastructure are better than they are now, I'm happy to let others break the rocks.

I could really do with borrowing an EV with say 180 miles real world range and seeing how I get on. I am fixated with the longest range, but I know that is barely relevant for 95% of my driving. It would affect me for a few trips a year but I'm not like Humph; I have the ability to plan my day some time in advance. Next time you've got a trip to do, rent one.

You have all the infrastructure you need to support an EV as your non-business car, assuming you have electricity at your home and a driveway.

And one day, I guess that's what we'll do. Just not yet.

Well-known Norwegian YouTuber with a passion for EVs has just driven an ID4 to the northern tip of Norway. First stop: chargers all in use. Went down the road for plan B but the charger was not functioning properly. Had to go to a third one. Gets to his overnight hotel and can’t use the charger in the hotel car park because 2 Teslas had parked in the way (not charging). Luckily he had 3-4 alternatives to get charged up in the town, but 2 or 3 of them weren’t possible either for one reason or another!
The hassle and uncertainty would drive me mad.
I’m sure things will improve in a few years, but until then...

Enyaqs and Ioniqs, dreadful names, sound a bit like low fat yoghurt brands don't they?

‘Golf’ is pretty silly; we’ve just got used to it. ‘iPace’ is just daft by any standard.

Any Enyaqs out in the wild yet? This and the Ioniq seems to be what everybody is waiting for... Surely the e-Niro, which is already available and out there in numbers (seen a few round here) does pretty much everything these do already? Also, the long range MG5 is available to order now. 250 miles WLTP for about £25k. And it's an estate, not an SU effing V. And the roof bar loading thing has been resolved. But everyone ignores these two because badge. MG5 LR is my favourite proposition to be an only car for me and the Mrs in 2 years time.

I know looks shouldn’t matter but that MG does resemble something from the mid-1990s. But I’ve seen a few on my London trips recently, so it may be gaining a following.

Looks do matter of course, and I like the simple lines of the 5, it's not too far off a Passat estate in my eyes, which is no bad thing to me. I think they look great. But then I'm a FIAT Regata fan.

Does it look that dated ? I can't remember ever seeing one so searched it. Looks like an Astra estate with a Passat front end grafted on to me. Not my first choice but for the tech and price...

That's it, bpg, in a nutshell. The tech/price combo surely make it the best value proposition on the EV market. I personally wouldn't look any further were I buying right now. Cannot see an argument for an Enyaq over the MG5. What am I missing? WDB, you've looked at the Enyaq in detail, what does it have to justify the price over an MG5 LR? Hang on, the MG 5 is on 0% Hoo. Final payment is £9461 in that example (48 months). I could swap the Civic for that, and chagne the Leaf for a small manual learner car for the lad. Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I've a few grand equity in the Civic right now. Hmmmmmmmm..........
