Hello Admin,
Can this forum support a button for "New Posts", i.e. one which will list all new posts since one's last visit in one place? Or, a list of all active threads across all subforums?

Function is already built in. If you check on the front page of the forum you will see that any sections that have had new posts in will have the word "NEW" in the little folder icon.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the front page to "Forum Information and Statistics" you will see.

Threads and Posts
Total Threads: 94 Total Posts: 666
Last Updated: Fluffy fleece by zero (8 minutes ago)
Recent Threads - Recent Posts - RSS Feed - Mark All Boards Read
Recent threads and Recent posts are active links that should supply the functionality you require.
All is cookie/history driven so is applicable to you.
