Surprising good value those Tipos - or maybe not so surprising..
Insurance Group 7 I think for the standard 1.4.

Yes the insurance group is an attraction. The standard 1.4 is 95bhp, sufficient for a learner/new driver. The T-Jet takes it to group 13, which is still not too bad. As a car I'd use over the next few years, particularly on the Wales run (although I'm confident of doing that in the Leaf wuite easily too), I think I'm minded to go for the T-Jet if I get one at all.
Now, estate or hatch? Hatch, I think. It's more likely to become "his" car in a few years, and I would then get my own auto estate again. I'd get the saloon if I had another estate car, and maybe I'll square that one with an MG5 in 2 years' time.

...and a free paper bag. 😅 Oh give over. It's a perfectly ordinary car.

People will still see your snakeskin boots. And your parking pass for the line dancing club. Still cool? 😛

It does sometimes feel like trying to explain art to my dog. Bless him, he'll never really understand and frankly he shouldn't be expected to. He has his own qualities of course and they should be celebrated...

Funnily, I thought of you this morning as I set out in the Enyaq. Blocking the lane ahead of me was someone attempting a foolishly complicated manoeuvre in a chromed, black-painted breezeblock. I suspect now that it was a Dodge Nitro (!) rather than anything with a Jeep badge, but even so. Why?

I nearly thought about buying a Nitro back along. Loadspace you see. But I didn't. My brother in law came closer ( caravanist ) but he ended up with a Nissan Pathfinder at the time. He has a Touareg now.
Look, if it had been primarily for me, I probably wouldn't have bought the Jeep in the end, but it wasn't for me, and she absolutely loves it. This confers all manner of benefits on me for having bought it for her. And, I quite like it now I've got to know it better.
Win win really.

Probably better discussed over here. If you had a spare car WDB that you didn't mind driving for a short while then I would also be looking to sell on your CLS. Thing is, while the CLS is already the spare car, in that it does far fewer trips than the i3, there are things only it can do — notably carrying four people, bikes or student kit. Committing to an indefinite wait for a new Enyaq, say, would be uncomfortable if we had to be without a big car in the interim.

Unless you got an Enyaq (or better, an Ioniq 5!) ordered asap and hung on hoping the used car market remained reasonably bullish.
I wonder if other new electric cars will come to the market in the next few months from manufacturers who are not currently represented. Ford (forget the Mach-E; too niche), Vauxhall/Peugeot/Citroen mid sized vehicle, Honda, Toyota. Could be that we see the demise of certain brands simply because they do not compete quickly enough in the market.

I think Toyota may be in trouble, although I’m looking at its performance in Europe, which probably matters a lot less to it than Asia or North America. But it seems way behind on BEV technology and marketing — most notably the lamentable ‘self-charging hybrid’ slogan.

Top Gear is for petrol heads. In reality no one will buy the Mach-E compared to the numbers buying VAG or Hyundai/Kia because it is expensive and compromised for family life. The way forward is either good value for size and decent range or very fast charging if range is not the best. I suspect fast charging will win out in the end.
