I wouldn't be in a rush to own one either. But, I could imagine being happy enough to have one as a holiday renter in a warm place. Go to the beach car sort of thing.

I don't think I'd fancy teaching someone in a convertible Mini anyway. They are actually banned from being used in driving tests becuase the rearward visibility is so dreadful. Well, I didn’t know that. (Not that Mini convertibles or cars for actual driving tests have ever been high on my interest list, I suppose.) Makes me wonder how a car that doesn’t offer enough visibility from one front seat is still considered good enough from the other, especially when the same car is sold in both LHD and RHD markets. I agree with Vić about the Mini interior in general; an infantile piece of design that favours nostalgic iconography over modern relevance and usability — or is that the government? Or are they both symptoms of the same problem?

Come to think, we rented a Vitara convertible on a couple of holidays in Cyprus back along. Not the sort of car you'd find all that useful here of course, and it was a bit ponderous to drive in truth, but it sort of suited the place and the time.

I quite like the infantile nostalgic iconography in the Renegade.

Renegade, Fiat 500, Mini, Beetle,... nostalgia ruled in the automotive world for a while there. And they sold millions, so people must like it!

Wish they would do a modern version of the Alfasud....
No rust, sensible internal controls but same rasping exhaust and handling qualities...

An Abarth Tipo would be nice, but actually I think the 1.4 T-Jet models, and Alfa TB ones, are porbably pretty close to the spirit of the Sud already.
Or maybe it's rose tinteds on my part.

The 1.4 turbo as fitted to my wife's car is a sweet little engine.

Is it the one FIAT call T-Jet, around 120 horses/PSeses, or whatever it is these days? Cos if it is, I might well get one of these if I replace the Civic with a manual. www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105222951618We'd be engine twins. I reckon the Tipo will be a pretty decent drive with this engine in it.

Not sure, but it's supposed to be 140 bhp apparently. Certainly goes well enough. Cheekily throaty too.

Ah. Bit pokier than in the Tipo then. Needs it with all the extra unnecessary weight and height I suppose.
