Or, buy a serviceable filter that can be taken out, cleaned and re-used.
I put one in my Volvo a couple of years ago and saw an instant reduction in fuel consumption mainly due to the one I took out looking like it was the original install from the factory, it was falling apart.

The air filter was cheap when compared to the price of the pollen filter... 🥵

Some manufacturers do insist on using those pixie dust and ground unicorn horn "active" filters. Unicorn farms are not cheap operations to run. The security bill is astronomical keeping them all out of sight.
Edit: Did they charge you by the 0.1l for oil ? That's a favourite here pulling it from an oil barrel at the back of the workshop and the rounded to the nearest whole number 1€ for the sump washer. I think they get their screen wash from the unicorn farm too 'cos they don't half take the Michael on the cost of water.

I’ll peruse the bill again after a couple of stiff drinks and report back...
Total bill was almost 600 quid 🤯🤬

I'd let sleeping dogs lie. It is what it is, it's done, move on.

True. And it won’t happen again. And I’m probably keeping the car for several more years so I will convince myself it’s money well spent 🤨

I thought you had the air filter changed in February of this year. Why change it again?

Different car. February was the Outlander. Yesterday was the A1, at outlandish prices!

How are you feeling now? Is the cat alright after being kicked round the garden? 😅

Yep! Slept it off. TBH with our “European tax” on anything different or interesting I was expecting to pay 400-odd quid anyway, so I am probably less than 200 quid out of pocket.
Now the car’s back in the heated garage for another 4 weeks..!

Servicing the A1 may have been largely a waste of time. Haven’t driven it since the day after it was serviced on 1st June. No need to drive it for the next few weeks. The probable arrival of a company car in August means that it might not get used indefinitely...
It’s stored in a dry, heated garage. Anything else I should do to look after it?
Don’t want to sell it, might come in handy one day in the future!

I know there's a line of thought which says the cheapest car to run is the one you already own however if you're not going to need it for a considerable time why hang on to a depreciating asset ?
It's taking up space and will need some attention from you while it is sitting there doing nothing plus yearly changing of fluids regardless of use or lack there of.
When you come to use it again it may well be a museum piece. Unless it's going to be a classic I think I'd get my money back out of it sooner rather than later.
As for storing, drain fluids, little oil down the bores, cover with a dust sheet and turn the engine by hand every fortnight/month.
Congrats on the co. car, do you know what it is yet ? (No reference to Mr. Harris intended).
