3 month warranty and "No returns" says you bought it, you own it, no baxxies. I thought you were averse to cambelts Al? I'd want a thorough root around underneath before parting with cash, those steel wheels and plastic wheel trims don't look right on a top of the range Ghia model, late 90s everything above an LX came on alloys I thought.

This is one of the absolute earliest Focus models, wouldn't be at all surprised if it didn't have alloys, even a Ghia. I'd rather steels and covers for a teenager's learner car, anyway. Cambelts? Well, yes, I am averse to them but when you're fishing in the cheapest end of the pond it's not my main priority. I can live with one. Just. And I don't think I'd expect much cover from anyone selling a car this age and price. It's almost disposable.
Yes, needs serious underside lookings, especially given that it looks like it's lived in Bexhill it's entire life - look at picture 1's background...mmmmm, salty.

Steel wheels with plastic dustbin lids were perfectly normal in the late 1990s. Both my Saabs (1996 and 1998) had them. I think they were even available on the S60 at the time I ordered mine in 2002.
I paid the insurance for the Aygo last night. Set it to start on the 31st. Just need to pay for the car now.

Don't forget to get an extra suction fit rear view mirror for the supervising driver.

Last car I had on steel wheels was a '90 Rover 216. My '90 Golf, '93 Audi, '94 SAAB, '98 FIAT all came on alloys. I thought alloys and the little i badge were the must have items in the 90's.

Last one I had with steel wheels was a BMW 318i two door in 1989. However, my son's Aygo has steels. And a proper full sized spare.
I'd have bought some steels to put my winter tyres on for the Merc, but apparently they are not available in the right sizes. Something to do with brake disc clearance.

My mistake, I had a '91 Astra 1.6L on steel bike wheels and plastic lids. That was replaced by the '90 Golf in '93 I think it was. How could I forget the legendary Astra with its hang on and hope handling in the wet. The handbrake was a vital part of the car for cornering on anything other than bone dry roads. *shudder*

All my company cars had steel wheels, even the boss's Merc 230E and BMW 520i. But I left in 1996 and since then I think all of my cars have had alloys expect possibly the Peugeot 605.
The only car in the family with steelies now is the Punto

Don't forget to get an extra suction fit rear view mirror for the supervising driver. Got that — and a clip-on for the nearside door mirror. Will need some L plates too, of course, but I’m waiting till I have the car to see whether I can use magnetic ones. (Neither the CLS nor the i3 has any ferrous material visible from directly behind, although I’m guessing the Aygo probably has.)

WDBAygo day tomorrow isn't it? Exciting! Well, a bit anyway. Did you know they take 0-20 oil? Only reason I do is that I had the get some for ours/his yesterday.

I like small cars, as long as you’re not having to carry many passengers. Shame that the Aygo isn’t imported to these parts, in new or used guise. Don’t know why.
Used to see a lot of Aygos in Denmark. Quite stylish.

Yes, assuming it makes it here from Kent this evening. Friend is driving it back as she was over there anyway and had a reserve driver; probably just as well in terms of time that I didn’t try to get there myself. I haven’t actually paid for it yet but that will happen somehow.
Didn’t know about the oil. I do know it takes 155/65 R14 75T tyres, though, and my plan is to put a new set of all-seasons on it straightaway because I know nothing about what it’s running on now. Goodyear Vector 4Seasons look like the ones to have, with the bonus that we’ll have a winter-capable FWD car on the drive if we get a surprise cold snap later in the year.

If the tyres that are on it are in good nick it might be wise to leave them on for now. Even the best of drivers can clip a kerb you know...and a learner just will. Oh yeah, and it'll have a full sized spare too, so if you do change to all seasons you'd best get 5. Not sure if those Goodyears are directional or not but that lashes up the usefulness of the spare if they are.
