I'd prefer to keep the 2016 Civic. But as it is a much newer and better car, it's very expensive.

Well, whatever you do, I like that Twingo. Bit too blue maybe, but y'know, you'd live with that.
Edit - and while the Civic is almost certainly a nice car, it's not worth having to consider selling a kidney to keep it.

Does the Twingo come in yellow?
I’m wondering if the rear-engine layout makes for a flatter floor and more foot room. If so...

The Smarts definitely come in yellow, but I wouldn't know about the Twingos.
You might be on to something though about the footwell...

T'other thing about the Twingo/Smarts is that apparently they have a remarkably tight turning circle making them peasy to park and manouver.

Looks like quite a tall cabin too, if one were so afflicted.

Got to be worth checking you'd think. It'd be logical if it did have a bit more foot room.

I have an elderly neighbour, who has been taken off to a care home sadly in the last month. He won't be returning to live alone, poor old chap. His sister is going to have to clear out the house and sell up for him - and she's just called me and chatted about the old car sitting in his garage. They've already cleared the overgrown driveway so it can be moved out and sold now. It hasn't moved since 2006 but has been indoors all that time. I've seen it, and, on the surface, it's in good condition.
Would make a great learner classic...I wonder what it would take to put it back on the road safely?

Recommissioning might not take too much effort, I guess a full set of new fluids ( coolant, oil, brake fluid, gearbox oil etc would be prudent ) new tyres too I'd think and a flush out of the fuel system and fresh petrol.
What is it?

...and, it might make a nice summer project for you and the lad. Getting him involved in prepping his own car could be good for him, if you've the space, time, kit and skills.

It's a Triumph 1500. The pre-Dolomite/Toledo model. Dark blue, with light blue interior. K-reg.
I would expect some suspension components would been a make over too.

Nice wee cars. I had a Triumph 1300 a lifetime ago. I think Avant had a 1500 but I might be wrong.
If it's sound rust-wise it could be a fun thing to work on, certainly not complicated. Put electronic ignition on it, get it unleaded friendly etc. Pity that ruddy Mini will be taking up garage space !
