I never (well rarely) use the busses either but often use the tram. Not so much with the pandemic but it's faster, cleaner, etc. The bus is perhaps fractionally cheaper.
The other issue I have with the buses though is the cost. For a short journey it's expensive and to get a return you basically have to buy a ticket valid all day and go anywhere. But I don't need that.
Last time I used the bus was the office Christmas meal in Manchester a couple of years ago. It took ages to get in. Then realised where you got off in Manchester was not where you caught it back.... a walk around the corner and a couple of hundred yards. Then the biggest issue was I had to wait at least 30 minutes before it arrived and then it was again slow and at that time had the weirdos on board.
Closest for us is the local train station but we prefer the tram even though it is a bit slower than the train. And now I can charge my car when parked at the tram car park.

Buses are rubbish in towns/cities. Should have kept the trollies.
