Seems JLR have lost a court case trying to trademark the shape of the old Defender. Clearly trying to queer Ineos' pitch.
Apparently it is very hard to trademark a 3D shape if the shape reflects the function of the item. So a 4WD utility vehicle is always going to look similar to a Defender just as the Jeep and G-Wagen are in principle similar to it.
