Ok so I'm a self confessed car nerd, I notice cars, I like them. For years I've tried to conceal this from normal people, but I think it's a bit like an addicts support group here so I hope I can speak freely.
Anyway, on one of the dog walk routes I use, a shiny thing has recently appeared parked outside a row of terraced houses by the canal. It's been there a few weeks now and it's giving me the sweats.
It isn't brand new, which is actually the problem as I'll explain later. It's a Fiat 124 Spyder, not the absolutely glorious original, but the one that's based on a Mazda.
Now the MX5 is a reputedly very fine car and they catch my eye too, but the the little styling tricks that have been used on the Fiat transform it into a thing of captivating beauty, to my eyes anyway.
This one is a dark gunmetal grey, with black leather and hood and it just lurks there taunting me with its siren looks.
I don't need a two seater convertible, I have no possible use for it, it would be a pure indulgence at a time when that would be entirely imprudent.
But, here's the thing, most of the time when you see something semi exotic it can be rejected as fantasy on the basis of cost. However, I've made the mistake, don't tell me you've never done this, but I've only gone and checked on Autotrader how much these are going for...
I think I might have to get some therapy, or pills or something because they're not stupidly expensive.
