Do you have a Western Digital drive anywhere, even a USB one?
If so you can download a custom version of Acronis True Image from the WD website. It has reduced functionality to the full version but is quite good for backup and clone/restore in a Windows environment. Edit:
It checks that a WD drive is attached before it will install.

Thanks, I didn't know that and as it happens I do. Is the functionality reduced in any way that I would care about?

In fact I've made significant gains I think in now having a clean installI have refused to do "upgrades" since the days of Windows 95. There is never a good ending, and a clean fresh install is the only way I will go. If you didint have a WD drive there are lots of good "ghost" clones. Always a good idea to get a nice fresh system set up the way you want and then snap a clone and stick it away in a safe place (which is what I do for a system I build for anyone, along with a boot iso it acts as the recovery media)

I know, I know. I used to install for fun!
But these days I acquire so many little tools, apps, templates and access programs from so many different customers - clients, targets, subjects and reports, that putting it all back in place is an arse. I should, of course, take a better approach.
I promise i will from now on.
