Try chicken bones. I used to keep a chicken wishbone in an old cufflink case to ward off IT glitches. Customers laughed.... for a while!

I can't see why you should have to faff about with stupid software like that, T & E. Get the dealer to do it when the car is in for service - that's what they're there for.

...fine if any requirement coincides with BMW's service schedules, but, given their s/w servicelifecycles and condition-based servicing, they cunningly never do (or will).
I'm not doing a 50 mile round trip just for a s/w update/install
Thing is, the whole concept is quite easy, the design is simple (it is purely an on-line ordering system - the (any) updates other than the rather large map are delivered OTA to the car) - it is simply poorly executed, and the issues have been constant.
