For those here, who no longer frequent "there", you might be interested to know that an obituary has been found for "Lud" / "Armel"
Its in non-motoring.

Do you know what, I was wondering about this very topic in an "I wonder if he is" kind of way just yesterday. Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to the old bugger. Thanks for letting us know. I shall not be searching Autotrader for PT Cruisers in Sussex.

Hmm. I have had a look at the thread. Read the obit, most enlightening. Quite a life lived, much of it hinted at in his posts over the years of course.
Goodbye old fruit.

It was probably much to do with the humour and eloquence in his writing that first got me reading the HJ forum. I'm sure I'm not alone in having both howled with laughter and also cringed in horror at his posts. They were, it must be said, often controversial, but written I feel by a kind heart. I miss him.

Me too. He was just the right kind of online contact, in that I could find nuggets of agreement among the controversialisms, and he always took disagreement in the spirit of discussion. I imagine the smoking got him in the end; a pity.

We’re being urged to check on elderly neighbours during the hot spell. If I did that here it would take all day. But has anyone checked in with the fleeces today? Changing oil in this weather might not be good for them. 😈

Sorry, T&N, how thoughtless of me. Are you keeping your curtains closed, fluids up, chemical toilet a safe distance away...?

Ah. Funny, I thought, as I tapped that out, he has the same initials as Turner & Newall, the jolly asbestos folk of yesteryear. Well, no he doesn’t. Sorry.

I trust that, with temperatures back in the low twenties, you’re now safe and the chemilav whiff is now merely frightening dogs and small children rather than felling trees. 🙊
