NSU Motorenwerke AG, (aka NSU) developed the engine - one of the designers they employed was Wankel. Which is why these engines are often referred to as Wankel engines.

Managed to bypass the swear filter I see....
Actually Felix Wankel designed the concept in the 1920s I think and NSU took it over.
Wiki .."The design was conceived by German engineer Felix Wankel. Wankel received his first patent for the engine in 1929. He began development in the early 1950s at NSU, completing a working prototype in 1957. NSU subsequently licensed the design to companies around the world, who have continually added improvements."
Still want one...

Not much use without an engine.... I was watching a YouTube channel the other day about strange car engines. The commentary implied that Mazda developed the Ro80 engines in the 1960s which I don't think is correct. Ah come on now, it's got an engine. It's even been removed for your convenience. It just doesn't work is all. Honestly, some people have no sales skills.

Honestly, some people have no sales skills. ....yeah, the best salespeople are those that can immediately discern a punter that will buy any old wreck......... .....not that we know anyone like that.

Damn this! Links to classic car sites get me thinking about Saab 900s again. Someone in Yorkshire is selling a nice-looking red one.
