You definitely need a company-funded, new-ish and reliable car for the amount of miles you cover Humph. Surely anything older than 5 years/150,000 miles is a rather risky proposition to rely on?
Within that parameter it seems that a hybrid or PHeV is best for tax purposes. From the remaining available shortlist of suitable vehicles it’s a simple case of being prepared to pay more tax to drive something nicer isn’t it?
I suspect something Japanese or Korean is the dull, logical answer! Change it every 3 years and you won’t become too attached to it either!

You are all quite right. It was just an avenue to explore and I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious. I'll stick with a company car for now and when it comes time to change, I'll shop around for the best solution to the need/want/desire/cost equation.
