This Dolomite was a 1300, which may have been introduced to fill the gap left by the Toledo. There was also a Triumph 1500 saloon, wasn’t there — which was neither a Dolomite nor a Toledo? All three chasing fragments of the same market — and we blame the unions for the demise of the British car industry!

Yes, the Triumph 1500 was a whole 'nother thing which just looked the same with the same engine. No more than style differences.
I didn't know there was a Dolomite 1300.
I know about and had experience of the British Car Industry. Hard to tell who was worse; the workers, the unions or the management. A shower from one end to the other.

I thought t was the Triumph 1300/1500 that were FWD and the Toledo/Dolomite RWD? I may be quite wrong.

I think it was something like this:
FWD Triumph 1300 1966 FWD 1500 1970 RWD Toledo 1970 RWD Dolomite 1850 1972, and Sprint 2000 RWD Dolomite 1300 and 1500 mid-70s All stopped about 1981
SWMBO had an old 1300 in the 70s: it used a pint of oil every 100 miles, and the starter motor sounded like Hollywood sound effects for the fall of Babylon - but it never failed to start or let us down. She said for years afterwards that it was the most comfortable car she'd had.

There's a navy blue (with light blue interior) Triumph 1500 in an elderly neighbour's garage in my road, quietly at rest. The garage is behind the house, and there isn't even any vehicle access route to the garage anymore. No idea how long it's been there but the old boy keeps the battery on trickle charge for some unknown reason.

Given the inaccessibility, how do you know all this? 🤔

Old boy was in hospital for a few months last summer/autumn and I was looking after the gaff, doing bits of gardening etc, so needed access to the garage for bits and bobs. Was amazed when I saw the car there. Very dusty but pretty much pristine under the dust.
