How would the company car drivers or anyone else who gets a car through some special work related deal feel about using their car as an advertising billboard ? How much would the company have to pay you for you to be happy with this arrangement ?
I'm thinking your company logo on the sides of the vehicle.

He gets a reasonable mid level large estate car with Chub logos down the side. He seems perfectly happy with the free car and low Bik situation.

That's fair comment and he is happy with the arrangement.
I was thinking more along the lines of those with what you would really consider a perk of the job in terms of car to real business mileage use or simply the envisaged premium badge for the miles covered.
If the company were to say we'll pay you £n (being in the range up to say 1000) for the company name to be on the sides of the car for an agreed short (up to 12 months) time after which you could choose to pay for the removal of or remove yourself and pay for any corrective work required if you stuff it up, would that be enough of an incentive for company car drivers ?
Would it help offset the tax situation ?

I think much would depend on which company you worked for........
(Humorous suggestions on the back of a £5 note to me, please)

Ann Summers on the side of a Ford Kuga or should that be consigned to history on a Ford Probe ?
My original thought for this thread was coming back to Humph's comments regarding his company car tax and whether or not driving around with x, y or z on the sides for 3 months and £1000 kick-back would be enough of a sweetner to help swallow the IR pill ?

When I first got a company car, a friend was promoted at the same time and also received one. We got them in the same week. He changed the tax disc holder, the floor mats, removed the window stickers and something else I forget* to remove all traces of the lease company, PHH I think, all so that people wouldn't realise he had a company lease car, though he loved the car itself.
I, on the other hand, told everybody it was a company car, I was so chuffed that someone else would pay for a car for me. I became an 18k+ mileage user at the same time.
On the subject of advertising though, it would depend on a number of things, not least of which would be where I might need to park it. But that to one side, I'd drive a logo'd car with no issue.
*I remember, it was the number plates.

....though, if you worked for a certain Bognor-based electronics company, you might think twice.......

Wouldn't especially bother me, I don't spend a great deal of time looking at the outside of my car but I do spend a lot of time in it. If it led to a significant financial gain I'd take it all day long.
However, years ago, I did work for a big German company who issued more or less anyone with a tie with a black Audi A6 Avant. They all had the company logo on the tailgate. Seemed to work ok in their domestic market but in the UK, the cars were constantly being broken into as it was a fairly premium brand, and the low life obviously decided they might contain something valuable.

Does he live near Stuttgart, Kornwestheim even? I did know a Frank and his surname might have been Martin.

The one I know of has four rules: - "Never change the deal"
- "No names"
- "Never open the package"
- "Never make a promise you can't keep"
Rules of the car: - "Respect a man's car, and the man will respect you"
- "Greet the man"
- "Seat belt"
- "Never drink coffee in the car"
- "If you take care of the car, the car will take care of you"

Jeez, it took me ages, and I only realised that there even was a penny that needed dropping after reading Humph's comment.

You might be ahead of me Otto. I was genuinely seeking peoples feedback on company advertising but couldn't resist a little Humph baiting along the way. I'm sure he will well and truly set me up in return.
