Oh yes! Pure (Caversham) class. When I lived there (one of) the locals reckoned one of these was the height of desirability...... ....it looked rather like the bastard offspring of a Chevette and the Popemobile.....though celibacy in the latter case might discount that.

At about the same time as the Pacer, AMC also made the Gremlin. Google it; its too ugly to post.....

I think time has been surprisingly kind to the Pacer. Maybe it's the Wayne's World effect, but I rather like it.
It does amaze me that AMC thought it would sell in Europe, though. I have a couple of 1976 issues of What Car? and it is listed in the New Cars section.

....I'm pretty sure the one in Caversham (Heights) was one of the (very) few RHD versions, and I also seem to recall it was in white, which didn't do it too many favours.

Oh yes! Pure (Caversham) class. You're holding the map upside down, causing this confusion between Caversham and Whitley.

There's one of those on a drive near me. Looks in ok condition, except its tyres are all flat.
Ugly looking thing though.

The Pacer I mean, not the Popemobile. Though the Popemobile is here this week as well.

So, WDB, have you (or the trouble and strife) needed to use the range extender yet? Or even used it just because?

Just because, a couple of times. First time, there was a strong ‘hot plastic’ smell afterwards at the back of the car. No sign of that the second time, so I deduce that it was a factory coating burning off. Some reviewers have called it noisy but at 50ish out of town, I couldn’t really tell it was running. It doesn’t drive the wheels, so there’s no effect on the feel of the car.
Longest trip so far is mine to Camden and back: 147km with lights and a nice, warm cabin, and Rex remained silent throughout.
We have our first glitch with it. It likes the iWallbox cable so much that it won’t let it go unless I go through the full start-up routine as if to drive away. Chargemaster are on the case.

147km on a single charge? In winter? That's good. How much was left when you got home? Beyond the capability of my Leaf at this time of year.
I have a new work requirement to visit a client in Westminster occasionally, and there are some public Pod Point chargers nearby (Horseferry Rd). I'd need to get on one of those for my home leg if I drove there. I visited last week, by train/tube, and had a look. Both occupied, one with a Leaf which appeared fully charged but blocking the bay, and a Hyundai Ioniq PHEV which was merrily charging. I think there should be some dedicated chargers for electric only cars, a hybrid can get on with things using petrol. I think I'll be sticking to the train to get there, not only that my company doesn't have a way for me to claim mileage without fuel receipts yet. Unless Rob can correct me.
Funny you should mention the cable getting stuck, there's been a chap with a B Class EV stuck on one of our office charge points today, they had to call out Facilities to reboot the charger to release him.

Alanovic, I can't claim for mileage at all because I have a company car and a fuel card that I pay for personal fuel. I'm not sure you'd need receipts though. But is there an EV rate? I'll have a look now and let you know.
There was a time when you could convert a petrol car to LPG and were still allowed to claim the petrol rate. They eventually stopped that.
I think I'd use the train/underground if this was my journey. Who'd want to drive in. Although maybe traffic is much lighter these days - I last drove into central London a long time ago.

As you said/suspected there is no EV rate for expenses. Petrol, diesel or LPG.... they need to change that and encourage people to use EVs in my opinion. You can claim money if you cycle so why not for the electric you've used. You can even claim something for giving a colleague a lift.
