Sustainable European eucalyptus wood, eh? Oh yes. You'll probably be able to hear it sustaining in Reading. It's a Β£300 option we don't need, but there isn't a car without it that still qualifies for the Β£1,900 bung from BMW, so it's helping to sustain us too. I know I'm going to get into trouble for wanting to drive it too much. It really is a little jewel of a car, and the white-black combination suits it perfectly. Well this is it. The Leaf is so nice to drive, I really don't want to get in the Merc any more. I often feel like just getting in it and driving randomly, just for fun. Like wot I used to do when I woz a nipper.

Oh good, another one who's going to be droning on about how wonderful it is not buying fuel, how by wearing a parka most of the year you can extend the range because who needs heaters really... π«

We can set the car to preheat itself, including the windscreen and the battery, while it's still plugged into the house. Leaving warm increases the battery range. No parka required - just as well as I don't own one.

My daughter recently informed me that it was originally intended to be a piece of chocolate cake, not what you think it is.
Oh, and π© on your kebab.

Lowest estimated range I've seen on mine at the end of my day's activities is 39 miles. No worries. I am playing the new Shed Seven album on constant rotation at the volume of my choosing.

Then the heater just trickles a bit of warm air to maintain the level and keep windows clear. No worries.

Just out of curiousity, are any of you guys in any way tempted by vegetarianism, moving to Islington, the Guardian or the purchase of sandals? Just trying get a fuller picture you understand... π€

I am almost vegetarian (barely eat any meat), and have indeed been vegan for significant periods. Cheese, though. I like Islington but couldn't afford to live there. Also, it's hard to charge electric cars at home in central London. I have sandals and wore them with socks (black) whilst in Sardinia as mosquito prevention (once I'd been bitten hideously already). This is preferable to trainers and shorts. Marginally. Do not like the Guardian, in fact I (despite myself) find The Times to be the best daily newspaper these days. Have beard. Vote LibDem.
But on the other side I am a massive heavy metal fan (can't stand most classical music), football fan and sometimes even fancy a lager over a real ale. Recovering CAMRA member. Occasionally watch boxing. Still love old gas guzzlers. Wouldn't be seem dead in lycra. Sky dish on house. Eat kebabs (one concession to my mainly meat free diet).
Generation X, you see. Can't be defined. Difficult to sell brands to.

Ho ho. No need to be tempted by the Guardian because MrsB1 is a subscriber. Other regular reads are The Economist and the FT, so we can do the numbers too, thanks all the same.
Got some sandals I take on holiday, but they tend to get smelly. Would struggle to find Islington on a map of London. Pork chops for dinner tonight.
Curious thing: since I started looking seriously at full or partial EVs, I've become acutely conscious of the morning stink round here of just-started fossil engines, mostly delivering children who could probably have walked to the secondary school up the road. Worse are the diesel engines idling on drives in a vain attempt to waste enough heat to defrost them. The current manufactured indignation over diesel is misplaced; all fossils are doomed as vehicle fuels. Running a carbon engine will go the way of smoking and drink-driving, long before the 2040 cut-off that caused gasps when it was first proposed.

I understand that it's hard to appreciate classy individuals when you're surrounded by Cheshire, it must addle the brain somewhat to be immersed in over priced, over marketed tat and an image obsessed culture...

Oh I'm not fooled by Cheshire either ! I'd be back up over that border faster than a rat up a drainpipe given half a chance.
