..In doing a little planning for our German (possibly elsewhere) trip, I came across this particular boundary arrangement: Google MapsIt shows a linear intrusion of Belgium into Germany and out again, creating a small German enclave. I found it difficult to believe, but apparently the arrangement is a defunct Belgian railway (The Vennbahn) which is now a cycle track, and that has remained (almost uniquely) part of Belgium. If you zoom out, you will find the arrangement is repeated to provide a total of (I think) 5 such enclaves. It looks awfully odd. (Well I thought it was interesting, but as you were!).

Try looking up Baarle-Hertog. Which must be the world's barmiest. Pick the bones out of that one when Nedexit happens...........
Also, Nargorno-Karabakh and the various exclaves/enclaves around Armenia/Azerbaijan. Not a problem in Soviet times, but when the USSR collapsed it was a different story.
A pet subject of mine. Used to be a lot of county anomalies in England, parts of Berkshire in Wiltshire, that sort of thing. It's a bit of a shame they tidied it all up, but had to be done of course.
Wasn't aware of this Belgian railway example - so thanks for posting. I love stuff like this.

A lot of Armenian surnames end in 'ian' , but I don't know why. Must be a reason.

As with Georgian -vili/ashvili I've always assumed it to be "son of", as with bin- in Arabic, -ovich in Russian etc. but never looked it up. Will have a rummage when I get a moment.

It's mainly because they put mayonnaise on their chips. Bound to mess with their minds isn't it?

One of Belgium's great glories, mayo on chips. I love the place for its beer and food. Awesome. Met the wife there too. Every silver lining and all that.....

Oh don't start.
My bloody daughter brought me back a menu from a really good kebab van and a picture of her eating one. That's quite enough punishment.

How are they on kebabs? Just out of curiosity? Not a patch on the UK. And they spell it Kebap, the idiots.

Sorry, I missed your question;
The phone is outstandingly good, rather makes a mockery of paying more. I have a new Huawei P10 which I love and which I find better than the equally expensive Samsung offerings, but I have to say that the Motorola is damn near as good.
The Huawei is £300 more than the Motorola [£150 / £470]. There isn't £300 worth of difference.

Good to know. I was seriously impressed by the G5S. Pity the dual SIM version didn't have a third slot for the SD card.
