Ok I'll start, here's one, if your car needs AdBlue, and the filler cap is under the boot floor, do not spill any on the boot carpet. It stinks of wee. Furthermore, do not spill any on your jacket sleeve because that will stink too... 😡

Fortunately, in this of course entirely hypothetical example, it didn't get near any paint, just absorbent trim...and my favourite jacket...

According to the Moslem leasing broker we used for the Mini driven by my lettings manager, AdBlue is derived from pigs urine so he won't drive a Euro 6 diesel.
How true that is I couldn't say. Espadrille seems unconcerned about such information despite her Evoque requiring it.
One of my surveying staff with his own C220d just paid £34 for the local Mercedes dealer to top him up. Phew!

10 litres of Mercedes branded AdBlue is about £14. Takes about 30 seconds to put ( most of it ) in the tank.

Don't you buy AdBlue at the same place you buy the fuel? It's 54.9 cents/litre at my local fuel station. They sell various flavours of petrol, diesel, gas + AdBlue. No electric chargers though.

Yes indeed, I bought this last lot at a petrol station. Think it was £11.00 for 10 litres or £7.00 for 5 litres.

Even more of a top tip - don't buy a car needing AdBlue. My Euro 6 compliant V60 manages without it - not beng any sort of a mechanic, I've no idea how.

Do not spill any on alloy wheels, corrosive metals don't like AdBlue though it might be handy for cleaning up any unnoticeable kerb rash prior to repair. Always a silver lining. Another top tip. Don't let your engine run low on numbers. Very bad...

What you've got is known as a Lean NO x Trap or LNT. It's another filter in the exhaust that captures the NO x then burns it off, the downside is the burning process shortens the life of the filter though what that means in real terms is anyone's guess. There were some tests run in collaboration with ADAC of Euro VI diesel SCR and LNT equipped cars NO x real world emissions. The LNT equipped cars came off significantly worse than the SCR equipped cars. We'll see what EU VII brings SCR appears to be the favourite. Volvo have kind of hedged their bets. The LNT solution is a cheaper option but SCR can be retrospectively fitted to the four cylinder engine they have developed. The report can be seen here: www.theicct.org/sites/default/files/publications/ICCT_NOx-control-tech_revised%2009152015.pdfThe summary: www.theicct.org/news/press-release-vehicle-tests-show-dramatic-variation-nox-emissions-modern-diesel-cars-new-euAfter the NO x emissions "scandal" cools down what are the odds on there being a SO x scandal ? hunwickconsultants.com.au/papers/download/stack_gas_emissions.pdf if you want to see how the power generating industry handles it. The catalyst in a power station to cancel out the NO x results in gypsum as a by-product. The catalyst in Humphs car results in nitrogen and water. *SCR - Selective Catalytic Reduction or, what Humph's car has with the pig pee in it.

(Especially since the minibus version classed as a passenger carrying vehicle and thus having to conform to Euro VI earlier was fitted with a version of the engine with SCR at that point). Rumours are the next step will require its fitment across the range, however.

A camper van that actually needs a tank of wee?
There's a certain symbiosis there I suppose.
