Ports and power connector, certainly. Haven't yet been right through the options - screen resolution etc - but I got it working with my Logitech USB wireless mouse and keyboard.
Only conflict I've found so far is between the 'natural' default direction of the touchpad gesture that moves the page up or down, and my Windows scroll wheel instinct, which is to move the viewing window down or up. It's not possible to set one behaviour for the pad and the other for the mouse, so I've gone for the 'unnatural' Windows option on both. I imagine the pricy Apple Magic Mouse acts as a pointable touchpad, with the full gesture support I don't her from the Logitech.

I have dispensed with using a mouse altogether since I got the MacBook, I am much more comfortable using the touchpad.
I guess partly I am finding the Mac feel closer to a tablet with an attached keyboard rather than the close to a portable desktop feel that I always had with the succession of Thinkpads I have had over the years.

You will also very quickly get used to the words pricy and Mac being used in the same sentence :-)

Well you certainly fulfilled the "expensive" requirement of your brief.

Tee hee! Yes, somehow I didn't think I'd have a problem with that bit. It has approximately £600 of making up to do compared with that Dell 2-in-1. It's started by motivating me to clear out my home office to give it a more wholesome environment to work in. Let's call that the first £30. 🤔

Got your mail, WDB, but it'll be the end of today before I can get back to you. On the road.

Using a macbook is not conducive to using a mouse and all the windows left click right click stuff that goes with it. You need to master the touchpad with its single and double tapping and the uses of fingers, single and multiple. Ditto the keyboard, you need a mac keyboard to get an idea of the cmd/alt/ctrl keystroke combos.

One of the other things you have lost in not going for the latest snazzy one is the interactive function bar at the top of the keyboard which offers all kinds of little goodies with things like pre emptive text when typing, easy access to audio visual functions like volume / brightness and a few quite useful widgets when using integrated apps like MS office. For example viewing a presentation last week I found that I could switch forward or back to any one of 7 or 8 slides by pressing the button in the function display bar. I was disappointed not to have a magnetic power cord but this more than makes up for it.

Yes, yes, I get it. I've bought the Apple 316d. At least let me enjoy it for 24 hours before you tell me how I've missed out by not getting the M version. 🤓

Mine is company supplied and when I retire in the next year (ish) I have to give it back, by which time I will be so used to it that I will have to spend more of my own money on at least an equivalent MacBook 😒 PS I put the emoji in by pressing the emoji button on the fancy functions n bar and selecting 1 from 20 options
