I remember Andre well. I do hope he's doing well these days. Do let him know he's still remembered by the fans.

I remember Andre well. I do hope he's doing well these days. Do let him know he's still remembered by the fans. Andre had a time of it - not Fulham's fault - because he was often called up for SA's matches, which at the time were a week 'out' on the calendar, due to African nations not using the same international schedule as the rest of the world... So Taylor got to be regular first-teamer. BUT after he had a season at Oxford, he returened to South Africa, where he joined Santos... and won the league. then moved to Sundowns - and won the league. And the SuperSport... and won the league! He retired from football in 2009. In May 2013, Arendse returned as an emergency goalkeeper for Bidvest Wits due to injuries to the club's goalkeepers. This made him the oldest player in PSL history surpassing the previous record set by Bruce Grobbelaar. He's now a coach at Wits, and a TV pundit.

Interesting, thanks. Maik (sic) Taylor was a great keeper for us, wasn't sure we needed to replace him with van der Sar, who, whilst good, was error prone. Nice problem to have in retrospect.

Van der sar - now a board member at Ajax Cape Town. Andre was also in the news for 'playing away'... Bit of a problem, one night stand (allegedly) then a child involved, he was pushing readies that way, didn't tell the missus. The 'other woman' eventually sold the story to the gutter magazines. NOT nice...
