Yes. I think I want the car home to have my guys look at it. Certainly it's a car I want to keep for another couple of years so 16yo daughter can learn to drive on. Don't want to scrap it.
Mind you the garage did clean the car... That's worth danger money

Yes they saw him coming. Step-son has an older car and he said it might have been leaking water.... well it was leaking oil! He'd been topping it up. Told it to take it to our preferred indy and it had a damaged oil filter. Sorted for not a lot of money but it was close to being a major problem due to lack of oil.
His brother is just as bad with cars.... thinking an oil light is a low oil level warning rather than low oil pressure.

Mine has both: a red light for oil pressure, an orange one for low oil level.
I don't think that's unique to Audis.
If that sounds greedy, my next car won't have either....

Range will be about the same as my Focus before you get to that message. Given all the free top ups available at supermarkets and Shell stations now offering charge points that can accept credit/debit card payments doing away with the RFID nonsense charging will become less of an issue.
Aldi have been providing free electricity this week to Boris. Covered 400kms in the first week, cost has been 7.32€ in home charging.

I intend topping up my car at Tesco for free. Will have to switch to a slightly smaller Tesco store rather than the larger Extra. Might cover at least the travel to/from the supermarket.
I might occasionally charge it at home. But it will be via the 3-pin plug so even a 12KWh battery (about 10 useable apparently) so will be slow. Probably cost about £1.50 ish and I assume i'll get no more than 25 miles for that.

It's a vicious cycle - read ten minutes of disinformation parroted from the Telegraph, then out to the garage to change your oil. And repeat. We're so over all that here.

I'd have probably had a Passat GTE for the last three years apart from:
1. The rear space and in particular door opening and space for feet and someone elderly able to turn/move on seat to get out. The Passat was good but the Superb even better. The car made a big difference for when it was needed. 2. The BIK rules were going to change such that the difference was not so big in tax in 2018/2019 onwards although for the remainder of 2017/18 I would have saved a little. It has changed again. 3. I got a lift back//hatchback and not a saloon and I did fear I'd need to fit in a wheelchair soon - we even borrowed one in 2018.... but never needed it.
I'll miss having a decent lift/hatch back for sure. But to be over £100 per month better off is not to be sniffed at. And if I borrow some electric from Tesco I'll save a bit more.

Erm, not "all" of us thank you. I remain doubtful that an EV would work for me yet. As technology improves, or my lifestyle changes, it may be viable in future, or forced upon me by legislation, but for now, I'm very happy to continue to be unreconstructed.

I don't think I've ever read a post on "oil anxiety" on here, but the ones on "range anxiety" still continue. They're probably all right as "hobby" cars, those electrickery things. Much like Humph when he had his "hobby" Westfield (Has he ever told you about that?) it's fine when you've got a proper car to do your real motoring in. It appears that most of the proselytes realise that and still retain a proper car in parallel for the real motoring; I understand some even strap an auxiliary motor onto the "hobby" car as well "just in case". (And then they pretend they're "so over that!")

Ah, but you’re pointing to decisions made in 2017 that would be different — less conservative — today, or next year. Let’s see what’s possible in terms of continental travel after the imminent Brexit triumph and the covid vaccine, but I can see a full-size EV being an entirely practical choice for our family trips very soon. Whether my particular family will have much further use for a full-size car of any kind is a separate question, of course.
