My pal/neighbour who works for Bentley has just got his new company scheme car. They change them every 6 months and I think it's something like a salary deduction of not much if it's a basic thing and more if they go for something more premium.
They can have pretty much any VAG car they want with commensurate charges depending on model.
He normally just goes for a Fabia estate on the basis that it's fine for his needs, a 5 mile commute to work and he spends all day driving Bentleys or other serious stuff made by their competition that they're testing.
Anyway, this time he's chosen a Yeti, mainly because they're going home to Bavaria for the Christmas break and want a bigger car with four wheel drive for the winter. Must be nice to know you'll be getting another new one in March, and again next October, and again the March after...
But back to the Yeti, I think it's a "posh" one, certainly very well equipped, and the thing that interested my loadspace nerd side was that you can remove the rear seats if required.
His is silver with black trim, all the toys, automatic, 2.0 diesel and looks really smart.
Could be tempted myself, if I believed the gearbox wasn't made of cheese.

As you know, circumstances mean I shall be getting another wagon, new or nearly new. (The OvloV will be a mere stopgap, of 6 to 12 months) My days of moving gear levers and pushing clutch pedals are gone. Now I may be tempted to get a VAG product, and the Yeti would be a contender, it depends if the DSG drives well enough to overcome its inclination to lunch itself sometime shortly after it 60k birthday, but from what I have experienced and heard from others, it has too many usability foibles.

Is the Volvo an auto? Must say, I'm sort of with you on automatics, it wouldn't be a deal breaker or anything but provided the car has enough oomph to overcome gearbox lag I'd go for an auto every time now. Wife is still committed to manuals. Says she feels more in control. I disagree, but you know how it is...😉

You might just fall head over heels for that and keep it you know ! Be interesting to see what your view is in due course. Saw one today funnily enough in a sort of sludgy brown metallic. Suited it strangely enough. I liked it anyway.

Metallic poo I call it, Volvo I think call it maple brown.

I'll admit to abit of envy - I like the XC70, especially in excrement colours. My sister is on her third, always admired them. Her second one suffered (auto) gearbox failure at 150k miles, and hence was traded for a newer one. Current one is a 57 plate, and has been temporarily exported to live with them in Australia for 4 years.
If I could choose anything from teh VAG stable, it would be a Superb estate - short of a Phaeton of course.

I'm happy enough with the manual in my BMW chariot, although it's occasionally jerky or juddery at low speeds; it flicks very nicely through third, fourth and fifth when it finds a rare uncongested B-road. Wouldn't now want a manual in anything bigger or with pretensions to wafting, though. And if I'd happened to find an automatic E92 instead of the one I did, I expect I'd be perfectly happy with that, given my hugely positive impressions of every other BMW auto I've driven.
