Football Person in Corruption Shock. The only surprise is that no-one has bothered to try to cover it up.

Its the stupidity of it that gets me. I'm not sure I fully understand what happened, but the report suggests that it happened while he was England manager.
So, get a job, arguably *the* job, and take dodgy money within two months and lose it again. Despite knowing that the British media will get you if it can.
His dishonesty bothers me considerably less than his bone-headed stupidity. What an arse.

I saw it coming. Allegations that Fat Sam has had his fingers in the till have followed him around in every role he has been involved him.

Well he's a dick. And he might have been good at the job if he'd cared enough to keep his sticky fingers out of the way.

Though just reading one report it seems more that he didn't keep his mouth shut than he did or suggested anything illegal. Avoidance is legal.

So he's got the top job in English football. And £3m/year salary plus bonuses.... if they win... and then he's stupid enough to do this. What a stupid thing to do.
I wonder what will come out of the woodwork now. We know about agents paying his son when he was Bolton manager so he's got some history.

I think It's despicable that "gutter-press" journalists (supposedly Professionals) stoop to this obnoxious level and deliberately set out to destroy another persons livelihood, reputation and future life, just for a cheap one-day headline. They want doing for Entrapment and false representation! - And yes he was daft for agreeing to speak to them!!

So... if somebody offers him 100k, and says 'Cap so-and-so', what would he do? The same as a lot of previous England managers is my guess looking at some players who have been given caps.

Ohhhhh ... 'Cap' as in 'put in the team'. I was imagining some sort of hitman arrangement. It's been a difficult day.

Glad to see someone else (Hobbit) with the same reaction as mine. Even if the press think someone is dishonest, matching it with their own dishonesty is not the way to go about it. They are of course there to sell copies, but there are other ways of doing so.
I agree this was a daft misjudgement by Sam Allardyce, but I'm not convinced it was a resigning matter, particular in view of the way the information was obtained. A severe public warning would have been enough: if Big Sam was thought to be the best candidate for England manager, he should have been given a chance to prove it.
Ooh - I see I'm now a Junior Member - presumably after 50 posts. Very good for my soul I'm sure - I haven't been a 'junior' anything for about 45 years. I can't quite see why we need to be graded.
