That's enough to make you weep, and these people call themselves dog lovers?
If i send you a short video of the mother, would you know?

Depends on what the mum is doing, a vid of standing and running would be useful Your missus is a vet yes? the best way is to give the mum a hip xray. (at your expense of course, but jeez thats money well spent.)

Have a word with this mob www.workingdogchile.cl/dotacion_canina.phpI have no idea what they are like, but if they are breeding working dogs they should be a good bet. Some of the photos indicate they look quite sound. However, they will be bred from the more 'assertive" lines, so you will need to socialize the pup really well and lay down some very strong guidelines up front. Should be ok.

Ok, found a man about to breed his own German Shepherd bitch.
So, do I want bitch or dog, and 1 or 2, if 2 then same sex??
Space, day time company and sufficient exercise are not issues.

1 dog or two bitches is fine. Never 1 dog and 1 bitch. 2 Dogs is a pain too.
Girls, go for the girls every time. Or do a humph and take his spheres.

My two retrievers were both boys, I never noticed any particular difficulties. Was I just lucky?
Wife doesn't agree with sphere-removal. And if challenged she just quotes something about vets with knowledge and amateurs with opinions.

You may well be right Nobhead, ( sorry spellchecker fail ) I mean Nogbad of course ! 😉
But, when I was a child we had multiple dogs, all intact males, don't remember any particular problems. They all got along just fine. When I say multiple, I suppose there were never more than 3 at any one time. One in particular, a Golden Retriever was my best childhood pal. Went everywhere with me, he used to wait at the bottom of the road for me to come home from school, followed me around on my bike, used to sneak into my room at night and sleep on a rug at the bottom of my bed, well, you get the idea.

But, I have a chipped bone in my ankle (Dog bite) to prove to me that two guarding pastural male dogs complete with spheres is not a good idea. (in this case they were Belgian Shephards, but closely related to GSD's)

Fair enough, we all have our own experiences to draw on I guess. They don't tend to bite Scotsmen, they know that although we're generally very laid back, if you upset us, it all gets messy...😉
Is it, perhaps, also a bit functional of breed? Like I said, my retriever was as soft as a brush despite intact tackle.

Because I don't know what I am going to do. I have never owned a female dog. In fact I've only ever had two dogs, they were male and complete with spheres. The guy who will be breeding told me that I should get two females. I have no idea so i thought I'd ask. I will choose 1 or 2, male or female. However, you are correct in that if I get two males then my wife won't let me get them done. Not sure that this needed explaining really.

that two guarding pastural male dogs complete with spheres is not a good idea. Can we have that again in English? Big dogs, with big teeth, a will to use them and with bollocks. On a technical note, dogs are grouped by the bred for purpose. Pastural sounds sweet, but in fact it means dogs that were bred to protect sheep from bears and wolves. Hence big dogs, big teetch, a will to use them and sacks full of testosterone.
