I don't like the idea of other people's feet, so I'd not be up for a job fettling their shoes, smell or no smell. Am I allowed? I don't think I've ever owned plastic shoes, other than my Crocs. They don't smell. Trainers get to smellin' because they have absorbent soft material in their composition, but I've never considered them to be made from plastic. Perhaps they are.

They are. They’re an environmental catastrophe, not just in the shoe cupboard.

Trick is to never wear the same pair of shoes on consecutive days. Ideally, don’t wear the same pair all day either. If you work in a traditional way, change your shoes when you get home and leave the first pair to “rest” for a day.

My teenage son calls shoes “foot prisons”! He wears flip-flops 99% of the time (fancy leather ones mind)..!

That's the great thing about working from home, only wear shoes on the two days I'm in the office and Saturday when I have to run errands otherwise, bare foot (except bin days when I put a pair of crocs on to retrieve the bin from wherever the refuse disposal 'experts' have deemed fit to park it).
It's been quite the revelation

Mostly I pad around the house shoeless. I never take my shoes into the bedroom unless I'm carrying them; they come off as I walk in the house.
But I am heavy on shoes, partly as I wear orthotics. I frequently wear out the uppers quickly as my feet are pushed up and forward.

Flip flops with bit more solidity than the sort you wear on the beach are now apparently 'toe post sandals'. Wear them around the house a lot and will drive myself as far as the shop in them. Another pair in the caravan.
