Our new dishwasher can be controlled by Espadrille's phone... bonkers. Do we really need that? Not sure I agree with ‘fairly poor’. It was in line with my expectations, especially as the temperature was about 12°C and we were facing a brisk northerly wind much of the way there. I don’t know what would have done better and still had room for us and our kit. An Enyaq possibly, or an Ioniq 5 or a iX3 but probably not by much and not as comfortably, especially in the back. Those are all single-motor cars, of course, and smaller overall. I suppose I’ve accepted there’s an efficiency penalty for making a tall family comfortable but BMW has done some clever things with motors to keep that to a minimum. It’s in a different league from the iPace and the Etron, which are similarly-sized two-motor machines. Yes low temperatures don't help do they. In that case the figures are not so bad, given the size of car. Just a pity that at present BMW and Mercedes or even Audi don't make a roughly Ioniq 5 size machine that has all best EV tech that mine does. I know a bloke who has come out of an EQC (I think) and into a Nissan Ariya and is very happy. But for me, an Ariya is a retrograde step.

Yes, the Korean makers retain their lead in the sparky bits — although BMW’s rare earth-free motors are a step up too. But while that’s nice for bragging rights, the only feature that will make a serious difference to most users is V2G, and that’s still some way off.
I think an Ariya probably is a step forward from an EQC, but mostly because it’s a proper EV rather than a compromise. Haven’t tried one; decided it wouldn’t be big enough this time round.

Yes- I suspect an upgrade of the forum software. All unread threads remain permanently visible?

Looks like someone has pinned the thread to the top. The confessional one is a sticky and this now shows as 'thread announcement'. Is that only Humph can do?

And as a 'thread announcement' it appears in all the forums at the top.

This IT malarkey isn’t so hard after all, dunno why they get paid so much! …well, you wouldn’t want the job done by just anyone. They might make a silly mistake and crash the world. No long trips this week, just Southampton and back for Boy1’s graduation. So I’m taking BMW’s advice and settling on 80 percent as my default even for home AC charging. Should be plenty this time. I let the car park itself on Tuesday. I was at the dealer to complete some paperwork with my sales elf, who’d also been on holiday. It offered to reverse into a space outside and I accepted. Felt a bit odd, certainly faster than I’d have done it, but it was smooth and tidy enough.

Was that parallel parking or bay ?
Bay parking in my car offsets the car for the driver, with size of parking bays and width of cars today the passenger(s) would need to climb out the window Dukes of Hazard style.

Bay. Not a generous bay either but I think the car centred itself in it. No problem getting out, thanks to the frameless windows. May get to try it again in Southampton, at the risk of terrifying the family.

Or indeed the risk of feeling slightly emasculated. 😉

Nothing so emasculating as living in fear of what other people think. 😛 I use an electric coffee grinder too, because I’ve found it makes better coffee than a hammer.
