Anyone used one ?
I thought about swapping my Focus a few weeks back and entered the details in one of these services. Didn't go through with it ás the next size up was not actually that much bigger. Since then I've been getting emails suggesting I sell my car as winter is coming, the battery may die, the latest being it's approaching a significant mileage (30,000kms) beyond which fewer people will be interested, it may get damaged in a car park, or the MOT equivalent may expire.
I think they're struggling for stock and may have a buyer lined up.

Not used one but I entered a few cars onto one or two out of curiosity.... and usually saw them increase offers. I was surprised how much they'd pay have a 51 plate Seicento. Although as parts I could get better but it's got a long MOT and does few miles.
I can see how using these companies in the UK makes things easier. But I'm not sure you will get best price.

Two offers I've had have been €6k apart.
The best offer is still €10k under what dealers are advertising for on car selling websites so you can see why they are keen.

First 'offers' I got when I checked the Mazda6 were a couple of grand less than I paid. Now I think it's quite a bit less. But I planned on keeping this for a while hence no turbo, no twin-clutch auto, no DPF, no AdBlue, etc.
In the UK some of the sites like this belong to auction sites of dealer groups. They are desperate for cars I think.

I went crazy when I saw two men urinating next to my car. They said they were from Weebyanycar.com
Is it half-term holidays in the UK ? Very quiet this week or have the wardens been round handing out sedatives to the inmates ?
Carnival weekend kicked off here yesterday through until next Tuesday.

Next week for half term here.
Have a happy Carnival. Always puts me in mind of one of my German A Level texts, 'Die Verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum', by Heinrich Böll, which is set in Carnival week in the 1970s. A very interesting and memorable book, and the film version is good also. Still relevant today.
I'm chewing over car changing possibilities again, might air my thoughts on here for the entertainment of others shortly.

If I had £1 for everytime you mused about changing your car, I would have enough to buy you a new car!

I know someone who might give you a good deal on an old but solid E Class estate.

If I had £1 for everytime you mused about changing your car, I would have enough to buy you a new car! Yeah, you're not wrong. It may come as a surprise, but I haven't actually changed one in 4 years now. Must be some kind of record for me. 37 cars have passed through my hands since 1987. I'm going to have to do "something" shortly, with my Leaf PCP coming up to its balloon payment in a few months time. Of course that something could easily be "pay the balloon" and not do any changing. But, y'know. Man maths and stuff. My Civic is at a point where there's still pretty good value in it. It's valued at £10k currently. I could trade that in for something newer, using say £6k as a PCP deposit and aiming at a monthly payment of the same magnitude as I currently pay on the Leaf (£150), then I'd get a cheque back for £4k with which I could pay off the Leaf balloon and be left in the same position vis-à-vis monthly outgoings. My eye is drawn to a 2021 Skoda Superb iV PHEV. Seems to be in budget. But I've got one colossal concern about that. DSG. I know. I need medical help.

I’d be wary of DSG too. Maybe they are better than they were of course. Certainly have seen a few problems with them on my old employer’s fleet. I believe though that knocking them into park or neutral when not moving helps to prolong their life. Dunno. I wouldn’t risk one.

Yeah. I have found one in budget on Skoda Approved Used, which is currently offering 2 years warranty and servicing included. Which would go some way to assuaging any concerns.
Newer 7-spd wet versions are thought to be reliable enough, no worse than other types of automatic gearbox at least, there was some issue years back with a dry version in smaller vehicles which was the thing to have caused the reputation issue.

Apart from a few comments in the motoring press and motoring pages in the newspapers I have never heard of a DSG problem and I have several friends with DSG gearboxes. I do have personal experience of the Ford Powershift gearbox in rental cars both of which were obviously in the process of going wrong. Espadrille's Clubman I think has a form of DSG and you wouldn't know.
A mate has a 2.0TDi Superb with DSG (in fact I can think of two mates with that combo) and neither have had an issue. One is a 2019 car (easily 40,000 miles or more) the other much older.
So I wouldn't be too worried.

If I had £1 for everytime you mused about changing your car, I would have enough to buy you a new car! …and if we didn’t muse, there’d be precious little else to do around here. Muse away, Vić. It’s fun. Although I’m not sure why you’d bother with a Superb. Its main selling point is rear-seat legroom, which you told us last week isn’t a major concern any more. An E or a 5 would be big enough there and a better load carrier (and nicer to drive between campus runs.) And no DSG concerns, real or imaginary.

Is the anything wrong with either of the cars you have, Al ? (Other than not being shiny)
In a similar situation to yourself I paid off what we had and jumped off the 3 year treadmill until we see what the motoring landscape is going to look like. Get rid of that monthly drip feed. OK, you've got hidden depreciation, my now thirteen year old Volvo has cost me £120/month assuming it is worth £0 today - which it's not, that monthly number is worst case and will reduce the longer I keep it.

There’s also the question of interest rates. It seems unwise to jump into a new finance product just as rates seem set to begin to decrease. You’d be locking in the higher rate for another three years, so you’d get less for your £150 a month.
