The OS does need to be told but it's much easier than it used to be. My phone can be uploaded with multiple languages and the following is Hebrew which I have switched to with one click...

The problem has been solved by her taking my 14" laptop which I bought in March last year in anticipation of needing it for long spells with Dad (correctly as it turned out). But I rarely use now as I have a more powerful larger laptop which replaced my desktop.
So for basic surfing and emailing at home I am using her old 15.6 laptop which is fine.

Well, it’ll offset what’s happening in my house. MrsB1 wants to replace her fairly basic 2016 i3 Asus, although I suspect £100 spent on an extra RAM chip and an HDD-to-SSD upgrade would bring it up to a level of performance she’d be quite happy with.
That argument isn’t working, though, so it’s £500 for a new machine, probably a close cousin of the one I bought for Boy2. Oh well, buy cheap, buy twice. My 2015-model MacBook Pro is still holding up well.
