Have you seen the amount of luggage Espadrille takes? Two trips eight months apart, same hotel. We really liked it in the Autumn of 2001 (a few weeks after 9-11), and had a lovely time again in summer of 2002. I'd go back.. Gabicce Mare on the Adriatic.

Thread drift alert !
Parked next to a new Focus Active estate recently. I found myself ever so slightly coveting it.

A bit Forester(y). Slightly raised but not sitty uppy. I can see why you like it. Probably a lot better on a long trip than a 2004 Forester. That could be a bit tiring.

I see absolutely no point to these "slightly raised" versions of proper cars. It appears nothing to me but a fashion statement, and just makes the car slightly worse. Even FIAT are at it now with the "Tipo Cross" which they've just launched. Unfathomable. This comment does not apply to the Forester, that's a proper car in its own right.

Old (ish) Focus estate then? If he had that at Aberdeen he'd almost certainly be automatically invited to be the president of the university ski club ! Would be high on my list under that model of operation. And that's exactly why he's a bit attracted to Aberdeen. Skiing nearby. I expect he'll end up somewhere else though, so it was more of a tongue in cheek comment. IF I can get him his Maltese passport sorted in time, maybe somewhere near the French Alps though...

I do dislike the wheelbrows and fake 4x4 stuff, but the extra inch of height makes getting in and out so much easier. I wish the C-Max was as stylish as the S-Max. Such an easy car to use and yet drove so well.

I kind of get it. Sometimes when we're parking at, or accessing forests, I feel like I'd be happier with a bit more ground clearance but don't need a full on 4x4.

Had a C-Max on hire in Italy for a week a couple of years or so back. Really quite a nice thing to poodle about in. Want to remember it was a small diesel with a manual box.

Grenoble has a university. ( I think ) Nice place too, I have a customer there that I visit occasionally.

I kinda like the raised version of the new Audi A1, except for its name... Citycarver?!?

Is that a subtitle from the Mad Max series?

Anyway, I fell down the Autotrader rabbit hole this morning. Idly browsing for cars to suggest to Al, I inevitably started looking at things that might interest me.
For a while, I was looking at possible Qashqai replacements for my wife, usual SUV suspects, until I randomly started looking at petrol C class estates. They are disturbingly accessible. Then, of course, I started looking at cars for me. This was a grave error.
I've only gone and found an E Class estate, same trim and model year as mine, but with 110,000 fewer miles and, the 350 Diesel engine for only about £5000/£6000 more than I'd be confident of getting for mine...
It's probably quite a good thing that I can't go and look at it.

After what you said last week about the i3, Esp, I’m more concerned that he’s considering replacing Mrs Humph with a Qashqai. 😳
